CABLE CLEAT

“A cable cleats a device designed to secure electrical cables when installed at intervals along the length of the cables”, IEC 61914 Cable Cleats for Electrical installations. Cable cleats should: Prevent excessive cable movement due to fault-currentmagnetic forces. “A cable cleat is provided with a means of attachment to a mounting surface but does not rely on an unspecified mounting surface for the retention of the cables. Examples of mounting surfaces that may be specified are ladder, tray, strut, or rail, wire and beam. Where declared, cable cleats provide resistance to electromechanical forces.
Why are Cable Cleats important ?
When correctly specified and installed, cable cleats will restrain cables that are subjected to the forces that result from a short-circuit that is within the maximum system design fault current.
Guideline to Identifying the right fit Cable Installation
- Type of fastening - identify the type of layout - single, trefoil, parallel, bundled or stacked installation of cable.
- Cable outer diameter - Cleats ranging from 10mm - 155mm
- Use of rubber linear - To provide secure positioning of cable and to accommodate cable and to accommodate cable deformation during natural conditions.
- Mounting the cleat - To ensure secure connection so the load can transfer to the structure.
- Selection of fastening material - Planning of correct length, diameter and non corrosive hardware.
